Adidas is taking the classic Superstar 80s and stripping it down leaving it only with the bare essentials.Taking the “Decon” look that has recently been spotted on the Air Jordan 2, this iteration of the adidas superstar 80s comes constructed out of a one-piece leather on the upper for a clean aesthetic. Adding to the clean look of the sneaker is laser etching on the shell toe and the three stripes branding on the side panels. The two color options include Running White and Core Black with both of them being finished off with off-white rubber soles and brown detailing on the tongue branding and heel tab.
Known for its iconic design, the latest release of the adidas superstar ii silhouette represents the essence of the city through a number of elements. Dressed in a navy blue leather upper, the shoes come equipped with a matching lining and shell toe while the shoe laces are made out of reflective yarn and metallic lace tips, which complete the shoe’s design. According to stats from market research group NPD, the adidas superstar dames ranked at number one in terms of dollar sales last year in the U.S., which is the world’s largest sneaker market. Powell elaborated, “This is the first time a Nike product has not been on top in more than a decade.”While the remaining nine sneakers in the top ten were Nike styles, or from the brand’s subsidiaries like Converse and Jordan, it doesn’t take hard metrics to see that adidas has been picking up a lot of steam in the lifestyle market since 2015, and this upward trajectory shows no signs of stopping, with adidas’s continuation of key partnerships and collaborations.
